Social Adult Day Services
Queens Community House offers a unique program of “social” day services for adults, age 60 and older, who are physically frail, socially isolated and/or memory impaired.  One major goal of this program is to help these individuals remain active and engaged members of the community for as long as possible.

Our social-model programs provide a safe and warm environment that fosters social interaction with peers and others. It also encourages otherwise homebound individuals to participate in various recreational activities. These activities may increase the confidence and feelings of self-worth for these seniors.

A second and equally important goal of these services is to provide some relief for participating caregivers. This can help reduce or prevent caregiver burnout.  Our programs are an affordable option that can prevent or delay other costly long-term care alternatives.

Our social adult day services offer two different programs:

LIFT (Living Independently with Friendship and Togetherness)

For elderly who are physically and/or emotionally frail or exhibiting mild memory impairments

Offered Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 2:30pm

TYME AWAY

For those who are living with moderate to early late stage Alzheimer’s Disease or related degenerative dementia disorders

Offered Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:15am to 2:15pm

Both LIFT and TYME AWAY services offer:
  • Escorted transportation within the areas of Forest Hills and Rego Park.  Staff will also assist caregivers to develop a transportation plan from other Queens communities.
  • A mid-day meal and nutritious snacks daily.
  • Socialization opportunities in a homey and safe environment.
  • Activities that are developed specifically to meet the needs and interests of program participants.
  • Exercise activities and Falls-Prevention program led by trained professionals.
  • Trips to community events, public arenas, and cultural institutions on a monthly basis.
  • Creative expression is encouraged through a variety of therapeutic art, music, writing, and drama activities run by carefully selected and trained professionals.
