College and Financial Aid Counseling

 QCH's College Preparation Program was featured in the Department of Education's College Planning Handbook.

Resource Centers

The resource centers housed with the QCH Beacon at JHS 190, Forest Hills Community Center, the Community Programs at Jackson Heights, and Youth Development Center at Newtown High School contain various college catalogs, view books, directories of post secondary education, and applications for selected schools throughout the country.Other information also available includesscholarships, loans and other sources of financial aid applications. This information compliments the college counseling available through OPTIONS, and also includes scholarships, loans, and also includes information for junior high school students on various high schools throughout the city.Students from all programs are welcome to access and use the resource center.

Seminar Series

Seminars are given for students and parents each year on the following topics: financial aid, college, application procedures, study skills, adjusting to college life, writing the college essays, and other topics of relevance.The workshops also provide information on financial aid, and how continuing education can be affordable.

 

College Trips/Visits

College visits and trips are arranged each semester to provide an opportunity for students to visit and expose themselves to institutions of higher learning. Trips are conducted within the New York City Metropolitan Area, Tri-State Area, and surrounding states.
